Your tutorials helped me build a “BEAUTIFUL” 😉 dream dog! You helped me build an absolutely SOLID FOUNDATION! It supports more advanced training. ALL your tips and training info are, I believe, the reason I’ve had success (finally!) with my very POWERFUL, STUBBORN, OPINIONATED 135 lb female Rottweiler! She is the FIRST dog I’ve had difficulty training. I’m experienced with large and XL dog breeds, so this came as a complete surprise to me. You have given me information that is exactly the opposite of what other top trainers have said to do. You are impressive AND so enjoyable to listen to!! You put me in a GREAT mood when it comes time to work with my dogs! I am prepped to succeed with cheer! Thank you for you awesome tutorials!!!
Can I get some advice please. My pup 6 months she walks like that with me and I do what you say on this clip and shes fantastic with me. But the moment my kids are with me shes pulling even when they are walking behind. I stop waiting for her to look at me then back up and reward. But within a few mins shes back at it no matter how many times I do it or change direction completely
How do you correct a small dog that want to do her own thing? My bichon lunges at buses cars pulls me. I stop say no but she keeps doing it. I want the truth! How rough do I need to be!?
What about sniffing while walking ? Not stop and sniff, sniff while in motion. My Labrador mix puppy is doing great on loose lead training but I've noticed he is sniffing while in motion. Seems like he's deciding to sniff and I'm not sure I want him too. Thoughts WA team?
But they are dogs and that is their behaviour? They are supposed to sniff ? It's how they communicate and learn about surroundings ? It's like humans not being able to talk to people or something
Thank you. I hope this works with my border Collie /pit bull rescue. When he sees cats on our 2x a day walks, no treat, toy, or praise can deter him and he stops and will not budge, or worse, lunge for the cat. I'm going to try this and I really hope it works. He does control the walk like you said so I can see room for myself to make changes and for that, I'm so grateful. I've become so distraught I've come to tears because I'm trying so hard to do the best I can and sometimes it feels like we go 2 steps forward and 3 steps back.
my dog walked along my foot, i did let her sniff when she wanted, but she didnt jump at cars, bikes and didnt go up to other dogs, let the dogs come to her .. i miss her so much
Possibly doable in the suburbs for sure and easy peasy if you live in the countryside. Only there's no "private field" to frollick off leash or in a long line where I'm at. And given global urbanization rates there's not going to be a private field where most people and thus most dogs live. In a city the dog's going to do their sniffing and being a dog in a lead right by their owner or not at all. Sorry for the sour tone here, but this is such a reaccuring theme with trainers: showing how easy life with dogs is in locations most people have never even visited. I've yet to come across a social media trainer who lives and works in a city like normal people. 😆
I cannot get my XL bully who’s nine months old to walk next to me he walks beside me, but in front of me and he will not watch me sometimes
I carry a clicker thing and treats, but I have to walk on a busy road. They have no choice and I thought it was good to let them sniff? But not when we’re walking? How do I get him to listen I feel like one of us is going to get hurt
I’m a 53-year-old woman who has had many surgeries through my abdomen I inherited him through my son and I love him to pieces. He’s an angel except on walks. I dread them now I end up crying in my room with my shoulder, feeling like it’s been torn for my body.
I feel like I’m rewarding him with treats using the clicker which doesn’t work. I have a harness. I had a no pull harness, but it seemed like I was breaking his leg. I don’t know what to do or what kind of collar or harness to have. I’m lost.
There’s too many things on here. I want my dog to walk like yours is.❤
It is also worth pointing out that this is a dominance behavior. You can fix a lot of behavioral problems just by teaching a dog to walk properly on the leash.
Does this count if my Romanian 8 month old dog is absolutely terrified of outside I’m working on this with him by sitting with him at the front door watching the world go by and giving treats when he sees or hears something but doesn’t run back into the house I’m in desperate need of help I want to walk my dog but as soon as we take 10 steps he wants to run back into the house, I can’t take him to a neauteal area because he hates cars and is sick
Brand new puppy who has no idea what grass even is yet, applying the ignore technique to whining at bedtime, but it’s a tiny Morkie and we probably have to practice lead walking in our backyard because suddenly Coyotes are getting a bit bold in suburbia. Also not really sure how to protect her from hawks or large prey birds when we are in the back yard. Anyone know if those protective vests work. I have some reflective things to put up coming and was going to use old CD’s too, but I was just concerned as I never owned such a sweet tiny dog.
Aren't you taking the dog on walk not walking and the dog is just walking with you? 😀 the dog not being able to do anything but walk on concrete and walk straight beside you is weird to me.
I don’t have a place where I can let my dog free and sniff. I let him sniff during a walk with a command and then with another command we go back to walking nicely.
Yeah learnt so much in this video the part what we all know but don’t know how to do it.. thanks to this video I learnt just how to do it and not just why and what we shouldn’t aloud to happen
❤thank you so much, walking b4 was awful, my Rosie like to pull the chain, sniff the world. Today I followed your instructions and my walks are enjoyable for both of us😊.
So where is the tip? 🤷♂️ he told us the end result not the tip on how to get there. He said it with so much passion and yet the message is still worthless.
I been watching you for a week Everything you saying he doing. I have been doing this for a couple days start doing well. But when I miss a day, OMG looks like I never train him anything
Does not apply forever. There's a point you can get to where you can throw this out the window.
I've gotten to a point with my JRT where I can have him off leash constantly, walk, sniff and explore freely. I allow this because I want him to have the best and most fulfilling life.
This is because he is still fully obedient and listens to me whenever I need him to come back to me, leave something be, stay, heel, keep pace, etc. If he does not listen, he will get corrected. This is crucial. Otherwise leadership is gradually lost over time.
Question. When and how do you let your dog pee and poo if you don't allow them to stop? Also, if sniffing helps tire them out more than walking, wouldn't it be beneficial for everyone to let them stop and sniff? I'm just trying to understand how to be a leader but also let my dog be a dog. Love your videos! Please help

Haha😅 that's sounds good and clear…. Easy peasy. Now please tell us how that works with Akita Inu😂

How 😩😩
Okay, that's the "what". Where's the "how"?
My dream dog, it came true, he was crazy, pulled and barked really hard some times, but he was beautiful, I really miss him

I like a dog that walks like a dog not a robot dog sick of these trainers

Okay. Tonight im gonna have a serious discussion with my dog. Hope he understands.
Thank you sir.
Whenever i walk the dog and he does his business I can’t help but sniff my hands after I’ve picked it up

If your dog is pulling you, it has taken the position of pack leader because you haven't.
Ok but does tha mean I pull on the leash or??

where is the tip?!?
Nice boots 🥾

You don't even have to be a good handler to understand that there is a time for everything.
Have one dog that still has issues on leash, been working with her. My male is great.
I don’t have a place where I can let my dog free and sniff. I let him sniff during a walk with a command and then with another command we go back to walking nicely.
This is great information but is there a true difference between a potty break and walk so they can do their business?

No, 50/50 mate. Is your prescription that lost in your marriage also?
❤thank you so much, walking b4 was awful, my Rosie like to pull the chain, sniff the world. Today I followed your instructions and my walks are enjoyable for both of us😊.
you have to let your doggy have a shniff of the floor 😀
Yes it sounds great but how do we get them to stop doing what you say? Our dog is 6 months old and hasn't been taken out much before now.
It does sound kind of lame on the dogs side though
Agree

Do you have a video on how to do this?
Okay I want that so, how do I make my dog stop sniffing every little bit of the way on his walk?

Great short 👏
