For anyone who has cat who thinks they have pancreatitis get an ultrasound!!! My cat needed to be hospitalized for two days one overnight. Low Fat food only, wet food only. High fat food hurts them more. Pain medicine is essential they won't eat without it. We have a steroid, pain medicine, antibiotics, an a appetite stimulant. He has gotten IV fluids several times. Tell them you think it's pancreatitis and don't leave without an answer and pain meds, steroids, antibiotics, and a appetite stimulant. Fluids are essential. They have to eat or they will get fatty liver. Please advocate for them don't let them tell you no. X-rays won't show pancreatitis get an ultrasound! Have them check for fever!
Our vets treated my cat for everything under the sun BUT NOT pancreatitis despite us suggesting it multiple times. They almost killed my lad. I did my research and found that cats that haven't eaten for 48 should be tube fed and struggle to start eating again on their own without it in most cases. They also refused to give us anti-inflammatory medication at first until we more or less demanded it and his temperature returned to normal in two hours after 4 days of random treatments. He perked up, had the tube fitted and came home with me for feeding.
My cats levels are very high but his only symptom is throwing up his food. Sometimes poops right after he throws up. I changed his food and spaced it out and he's a lot better before could be 3x per week. He hardly throws up now maybe once a week or none at all. But he always wants to continue to eat after throwing up. Sometimes he looks like he doesn't feel well but usually he still wants to eat more and seems fine. I also suspect IBD. I wonder if an Ultrasound is necessary like can it tell me anything that I can do to help my cat without being something very invasive and dangerous in itself? Ultrasound without biopsy is $800. I will 100% do it if it can give me info that will make things better for him but it kind of sounds like from Vet like it may not give any real information?
Urgent: my cat unfortunately may have pancreatitis and the doctor wants to do a test for that only she wants the cat to fast between 16 hours or 12 to 16 hours but she’s shooting for 16 hours. I think this is too long because the cat is only 5.4 pounds and has lost weight significantly.
My cat had the same problem. I found the book 'Cat Pancreatitis Managing and Overcoming' By Albert Costa on amazon very good advice for my cat and we managed much better. Thank you for this as well.
Terrible. All of this information has been discussed many timed in other bad videos. I want to know specifically recipes, treats, and daily care. No one does this. I have a chronic jack Russell on gabapentin and pain killers for almost 2 years. Hes tired of prescription diet canned foods. What can i feed him that he will enjoy again.
My Cat Ms Lily is 20 years old. She was diagnosed with Diabetes nearly three years ago. Last week she was diagnosed with Pancreatitis. Your video has been very helpful. Her Vet for many years now has been fantastic. For others costs in Australia to manage the diabetes is around $400-$500.00 per month. Pain medication was prescribed by her vet this is so important. How long had my beautiful girl been in pain. Now that she has been in pain meds for a few days I am seeing the signs more clearly. Other tests and costs leading up to the diagnosis of Pancreatitis was $600.00. Lily still runs around like a kitten, jumps up to all her cat trees and up to high furniture with no obvious discomfort. She loves her food so that is not an issue. Insulin is given twice daily after food. I thought this information would help others. She also had high white cell count and high liver, and pancreatic enzymes. As well as early stage kidney disease. Based on Lily’s vet and my own research Lily is ok right now. She may need IV fluids if she does not eat or drink enough. She currently does both well. Fatty Liver disease is very serious. Her quality of life is important to me. For now that is excellent. We take one day at a time. 🐾🐈🏡💗🇦🇺
A lady I see in the park when exercising my dogs, told me one of her dogs had pancreatitis a month ago, she's ok now but the cost of treatment, hospitalisation etc came to over £7,000 !! how can vets justify charging this, it's all about greed and preying on ppls emotions what about those who can't afford it (it's always the dogs who suffer in the end) and dogs are their only comfort/company.. DISGUSTING how they rip ppl off…needless to say I upped the insurance for my 2 dogs which I can ill afford but have no choice… EDIT:: I saw this same lady recently and she told me the price was £15,000 not £7,000 WOW EDIT : Saw this same lady few weeks ago informed me her dog had died..she's heartbroken…
Didn't vax my cat for 14 years. Vaxed her, she died of pancreatitis 9 months later. I checked the ingredients of what they injected into my cat and guess what pancreatitis was one of the ingredients…Avoid putting chemicals into your pets

Do your research and advocate for your pets

I can’t afford any of this. 📿
Also inflammatory bowel disease has similar symptoms
Low fat diet is the only treatment for this painful condition in dogs along with steroids 😢
No mention of what dogs shouldn’t be fed. Hopeless.
