I tought my dog by tickling the back of his paw a once he lifted it i gave him a treat
Somebody told me that paw is not a good trick and it can turn into a dangerous habit
This doesn't work with an actual Chihuahua because my chihuahua all he does he knows that I will give him a treat if he sits or do anything else so since he's so used to doing sit when I tell him to sit he thinks I put the treat on the ground maybe I should have tried this when he was really young

What i did is sit my dog at the edge of the bed and i would lore the treat far away from the bet so she would have to step on my hand to get it

Your doing it wrong you should be marking as soon as the behavior demonstrated happened then built the duration after, all the dog is learning is that if it jumps un and scratches the hell out of your arm it gets a treat, please research some more before providing shitty info please, it saves a lot of dogs lives by putting in the research and keeps them from being rehoused or thrown in a shelter.
Teach your dog to claw at you until you give them a treat… great training!

See the only problem with this is if u have a greedy dog like me he would stop doing it because he’s not getting treats anymore for it😂
Another way is if you tie a string to a paw, lightly tug it and reward when the paw touches your hand, this works better if you've taught your dog to wait
Next step: keep doing this until your dog feels comfortable and then start to open your hand up with the treat in your palm (disclaimer: if the treat is not in the center of your hand the dog will or won’t be able to reach it) and then since your dog has a habit of putting her paws in your hand to try to catch the treats she will probably put her paw into your hand to claim the treat

We taught our dogs this, so now everytime we have something that they want, they come and give us they're paw without us asking 😂
I taught my dogs, all 3, to do this trick and one of my dogs now whenever he wants a food he gives you his paw. He’s a giant malamute tho so he has paws the size of a timer wolf😅
Instead of that I did this
First, yes you grab a treat and put it in your hand, MAKE SURE THE DOG KNOWS! say paw, hand, high five, anything you wanna call it before it. Then you want to make them sit, gently grab their paw and put it on your hand! There we go! That’s how I taught my dog

My dog learn by getting injured by our dogs neighbor and hes giving hes hand to me like hes seying "help my hand is hurt" then i give him a treat then he learn
